It means exactly what you think it means: he's not into you, never will be, and honestly hopes to live and die without hearing the sound of your voice making him feel awkward. BUT, it's important to him that you know he's not a complete tool.
For whatever reason, it wasn't working for him, but he knows you're a fine person. It's like leaving a mint on your pillow the morning after, or a courtesy cologne spray in a public restroom. He's come, done his business, and is ready to move on. But he'd like to do so without breaking your heart.
My advice would be to think of him in whatever way helps you get past this. If you need to hate his guts for a few days, do that (but ONLY for a few days, or you're just hurting yourself). If you'd rather believe he fell into a web of international intrigue and must abandon his throbbing love for you in order to save the moon from certain destruction, that's a good one too.
In the end, you guys were ships passing in the night. Hopefully you learned something from the experience, if only that it IS possible to break up with someone, lie to them politely, and separate with no real animosity between you. Don't read into it though, and don't try to hold him to it. Sounds like the dude is gone.
So, I finally found my old friend thru his dad's facebook. After not hearing from him for 5yrs because he left the state. He had his dad give me his phone #, so i was really excited to call him, but i waited 3 days. I called and he sounded very happy to hear from me etc. He told me he lives here in AZ and he has a son and a girlfriend, and I'M now married. First 2 days, he called me, but then he stopped so I called him and he would not answer, then he told me he couldnt call because his girl was around. I feel like he does want to call but is afraid my husband will answer, or he doesn't want to call at all and Im the dumb one calling him to say hi. What should i do?, should I tell him It was nice hearing he's ok and hearing his voice again and never talk to him again. or what??, cause I trulydont want to sound like a bugaboo or something. I
