What kind of things are bullshit reasons to cancel a date? Do you think a guy saying his car needs to be fixed but says "As soon as it's fixed we're definitely hanging! :)" is just his way of getting out of it but being nice about it?

B.S. excuses tend to follow the characteristics of their namesake: they smell bad and they pile up fast.

In this case, I smell little to no BS: he might be trying to get out of it for some other reason, but so far, this sounds like you should give him the benefit of the doubt. And hey, if it is a B.S. excuse...at least he was nice about it.

Once I had a guy stand me up, and he didn't text me for 4 days and then it was "Soooo sorry I fell asleep watching Conan I am a loser."

Tariana

He really was. LOL

^^THAT is a bullsh*t excuse!

Dan Seitz

Either it's a bullshit excuse or he really is a loser.

I mean, he waited four days. Might be different if he had texted her as soon as he woke up or something haha. Verdict: LOSER!

i agree with dan. why would you assume that is bull? does he have a history of that? or do YOU have a history with men that do that? think better of yourself. he has let you know he wants to hang with you when he can, why think more of it than what he's given? do you LIKE shooting yourself in the foot repeatedly? worrying and obsessing too much about these little things is exactly what sends women on the spiral that makes men think we are crazy. "i'm being shipped out tomorrow." or, "i'm going to a place where there is no cell service or internet or land lines and i don't know when i will be back." or, "i have to go to my grandmother's funeral again" THOSE are examples of bullshit reasons.

I think you need to calm down a bit. Did you ask about his car? Maybe you could have gotten more reassuring information that he's not lying if you do. I don't think he's lying here, when he's stated that he is having some car issues and is getting it fixed so that he can see you. If this is a repeated issue or he's always making up excuses to cancel then I would start suspecting something is up...

I think this is less about the guy and more about the OP. I admit, I struggle with cynicism and often feel guys are not telling me the truth, but when I sit and really think about it, I realize I jump to conclusions because deep down I struggle with low self esteem and think I'm not worthy of having someone treat me with respect. It's just a bad cycle. So I find that literally saying out loud (when I'm by myself of course, no need for people to think I'm crazy) "I'm jumping to conclusions. Calm down and see what happens tomorrow" kind of brings me back to reality and helps me hone my instincts for when someone really is bs'ing me.
