Awww. You've warmed my robotic heart. I finally understand this thing you humans call love.
I think it's great that you want to take him on the perfect geek date. (Hopefully he'll reciprocate with a great second date.)
First off, determine what type of geek he is. Is he into music? If so, take him to Guitar Hero night at a local bar, or hit up a karaoke spot and challenge each other to a TV theme song sing-off. (Bonus points if you duet on the Growing Pains theme.) Or maybe video games are his passion. Find a local bar with a good Ms. Pacman, Galaga, or pinball machine and play for the title of "champion of the universe." (The loser of each game buys a round of drinks.) If nothing else, there's always that adult Chuck-E-Cheese, Dave & Busters. Plenty of skeeball, though sadly no Rock-afire Explosion.
I'm a fan of bar trivia nights, which could make for an interesting first date. (You can impress him with your knowledge of state capitals.) Also, as geeky date activities go, you pretty much can't beat Lazer Tag. Just try not to trash-talk any eight-year-olds-- getting kicked out of Lazer Zone on your first date is probably not something you want to tell the grandkids.
As for my ideal first date, I would start out with classic arcade games and beer at Brooklyn's Barcade, or a round of putt-putt at the nearby Bushwick Country Club. (I'm such a mini-golf nerd, I'll even play at a bar.) Then on to dinner, and maybe a midnight movie (like, say, The Goonies) or a late-night drink at my favorite hidden bar that looks like a hunting lodge for some reason. Video games, midnight movies, secret hiding places-- the perfect geeky first date.

I don't consider myself a geek, but maybe I should, because some of those sound fun to me.
Nicely done, Geek-Boy. Now hand over your lunch money before I clobber ya.
But, but I'm on a date! Ah, bullies follow me everywhere....
When my now ex-husband and I first moved in together, we were broke (paying down debt and starting to save for our wedding). But, we still wanted to go out every once in a while. So, we'd go to Buffalo Wild Wings or Damon's, get 2 or 3 appetizers, a couple beers and sit there for hours playing the NTN Trivia. We had a blast and it was pretty cheap too. Bonus points were scored if there was a hockey game on the big screen too. I'm an addict. It gave me the chance to teach him everything I knew about the sport.
