It sounds like you're being reasonable to me.
Your boyfriend doesn't always need to agree with you, but he does need to respect your feelings and he does need to have your back. I'd call him out on it, but not take it too seriously at the same time.

My ex would always say, “You’re a big girl, you can take care of yourself.” So I did…, I made him an ex & took care of myself.
Agreed. If the sales guy was being that unpleasant, you should have bought it to the attention of their manager. Immediately. I've worked retail, and I'd never let someone that worked for me treat customers disrespectfully.
It'd have to depend on exactly what transgressed during condescending. In this country people tend to treat non-English speakers as if they are retarded so my wife is always being condescending to. We both agree in those cases it's easier to just let it go, otherwise I'd be picking fights with every other person.
Being insulting, outright rude, or harrassing, that's a different matter and definitely requires confronting.
What are you, his child? The man didn't hurt you or even offend you. So if he was just being condescending and if it mattered that much to you, you should be the one defending yourself. I'm tired of this double standard, that men have to protect women even from small things like this.
It's not a double standard.
If I found out a sales person had been rude/condescending to my boyfriend, I'd take the purchase back for a refund, and take my business elsewhere.
