This answer might surprise and bore you, but here goes. No Shave November is the brainchild of Frank Morton Gillette IV, a distant relative to the great King Camp Gillette, inventor of the safety razor and founder of the Gillette Razor Company (1902). You see, Frank Morton was once a partner in the Gillette shaving empire, but his quick temper and penchant for alcohol led to his ousting from the family business and claim to any part of the family estate.
Since then relatives of Frank Morton have tried, through various legal channels, to reclaim some stake in the fortune to little or no avail. By the 1950′s relatives of Frank Morton, gave up on direct negations with the Gillette Company instead opting to just f*ck things up for them. The most notable, until recently, took place in 1968, when Frank’s granddaughter, Eloise Nelson nee Gillette, tried buying up all the stearic acid, lanolin, and polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate along the Eastern sea board in hopes of preventing shaving cream from being produced.
No Shave November, is the current act that serves to undermine the Gillette empire and to some extent shed light on the gross injustice and historically overlooked plight of the Frank Morton line in the Gillette lineage.
