Yes, you nailed it, we're all frightened to death to talk about "mama's boys." Sex, death, cheating, rape, abuse, mental illness, alcoholism, drug addiction, racial issues, homosexuality, fetishes--those we can handle, but please God not mama's boys. Or clowns. Shudder. Those two topics are off the table. So yeah--it's a facked; we made a packed.
I'm kidding. Did you scour the archives? I'm pretty sure that subject has been addressed at some point. We don't make up the topics, you know--they come with the questions. We do chose which questions to answer, but there is no intentional avoidance of particular topics.
What would you like to know about mama's boys? Yes, there are plenty of them.

If you want a Mama's Boy, you need to have two things going for you:
1. A strong, non-threatening relationship with his mother (usually based on subjects other than her son, b/c that is 'threatening' territory).
2. A strong resemblance (usually in general disposition) to his mother.
My boyfriend is a Mama's Boy, and his mother and I get along famously! He picked me b/c we're similar, so it's very easy to find things to talk about with her. I just make sure I never tread on her toes where her son is concerned. Now, my boyfriend respects me and my opinions, so I rarely feel that I'm 'competing' with his mother...

My son and I have a very close relationship, which may mean that he's a bit of a "Mama's Boy" but he isn't a wuss, and I don't order him about. He's 21 years old and studying to become a pharmacist, and I actually do everything I can to ensure that he will be successful, including helping him with cleaning, cooking, and getting to school. I would like to think that I will be respectful of his relationship with his significant other when he gets one and I would expect the same courtesy from her.
The loving and supportive relationship that you are describing here is a far cry from what real and problematic Mama's Boy would be. What you are describing is a desirable trait, because a happy and close relationship with his mother that advances him in life and strengthens family bonds is wonderful. The core problem with a Mama's Boy, is when his relationship with his mother holds him back, emotionally, in his relationships, or in many cases preventing him from following his dreams because she doesn't want him to leave her. I say that from experience, not of a mama's boy, but of a mother who couldn't let go and guilted her daughter into passing up many a wonderful opportunity for selfish reasons. It's similar relationships that cause grief for the woman dating a mama's boy. This does not sound like your son, and any woman would probably be lucky to find herself marrying into a family like yours.
