There are two possible answers, both of which reflect rather poorly on the male half of the species. Either A) we can't fathom that a woman could lead a fulfilling life without a man, or B) we're so desperately lonely our egos can't afford to believe you. I mean, if chicks figured out that they can be single, WHAT CHANCE HAVE WE GOT?
"Boy Meets Girl" is still the engine that drives most of the stories (via TV, the movies, magazines, and anything else your eyes eat) we take in, and a lot of us find it difficult to imagine or accept even logically reasonable alternatives: homosexuality, polyamory, celibacy, spore cloud release, etc.
Call it collective brainwashing or family values, but even as divorce rates hit 918%, people are still suspicious of anyone who claims to be enjoying the single life, or that a rate can increase over 100%, that being the theoretical maximum.
On the other hand, there is an argument for the fact that a human need to seek love is universal, and makes voluntary abstinence only a psychological cover for a profound denial of a rejected identity.
Which is to say, C) you're a lesbian, and you just don't know it.
Which, honestly, I've got to say I'm leaning towards. I mean, single? What's up with that? Kinda...odd...if you know what I mean.
Sometimes I wish I was a lesbian..
Why?
I'll be honest, I haven't thought it through beyond that point.
LOL.
Yeah me too. But I love penis too much. Despite it's uglyness.
Penises aren't ugly! I think they're pretty damn sexy.
I second that!
I consider myself bisexual. I don't really have a preference between men or women as a whole gender, but focus on the individual instead. Really, it's a lot easier.
I get this a lot...especially my (platonic) guy friends, many of whom are in romantic relationships, ask me this constantly.
The truth is that I'm incredibly busy with a full time job and part time school, and raising a child by myself. I know myself well enough to know that I wouldn't be able to give a relationship the love and attention it deserves. I'm just too exhausted by everything else I have to do. Also, some guys are jealous of my kid. I don't need that!
I think it so funny that when women claim they want to be single they are looked at with confusion but when guys prefer to be single its a normal thing. I kind of screws with that whole we have a need to be loved thing doesnt it? Personally I dont really understand anyone who would prefer to be single... maybe they just tend to have crappy sex or something, but whatever
I have to say that for the last couple of hours i have been hooked by the impressive posts on this site. Keep up the good work.
