The same reason they like expensive cars, fancy homes and the very latest electronic gadgets-- it's to show off. The reasoning works this way, all of the above including the trophy wife are either rare commodities or they are difficult for most people to attain, usually for financial reasons. The rarer they are the more a lot of men feel compelled to acquire them so that they can show off to their friends and colleagues.
Don't worry most men aren't this way, just the shallow, superficial and ugly-on-the-inside types, who mate with their female counterparts. The truth is most men like exactly the type of laid back, attractive girl you are describing.

How about when you see really pretty women with the short, old fat ugly guy? I don't know how they do it. Either they are amazing with their emotional selves or the guy is packing in one of two departments.
Or European women. I don't get them. They have to look good ALL the time. Yet the men are all kinda fugly. Except Italians, oh the italians... Anyway, I don't know how they keep up with all of it. The clothes, nails, makeup, hold themselves up, no sense to me at all. There are just some days where I cannot get out of my pjs, hair non washed and no makeup (I don't wear makeup anyway) yet I'll still go to the store like that. My one euro girlfriend said she was horrified by it when she first got here. Then she got used to it and does the same herself.
lol that's true I'm Serbian and I'm always the most overdressed one wherever I go! Americans are just way more casual than Europeans for the most part, but I'm gonna disagree with the "European guys aren't hot" thing, a lot of them are wayyy sexy and have a good fashion sense (they're not so insecure in their sexuality that they will be worried about "looking gay" if they dress well LOL so thats a plus) and they're usually pretty well-groomed compared to their American counterparts... but as far as the question goes, I wonder the same thing myself! I'm like every guy's best friend and I can say with confidence that I'm more attractive than most of their girlfriends, more cool (I hate girls who whip guys), and more funny/entertaining but at the same time they ALWAYS choose the pretty, clingy, insane ones who turn grown men into bitches.

Well, true is some ways...some guys look for gorgeous women and that is that!!!!! no ifs, ands or butts! some guys don't like funny, down to earth casual...even if they are casual.. they want BARBIE!!!!!!

Awww come on ladies and gentlemen.... not all gorgeous women are empty on the inside or dummy's...and that possibility is why loads of men are caught in a trophy girlesque admiration........she might be the one!?...the drop dead gorgeous, sweet woman that is just as beautiful and cool on the inside as she is on the outside.
They do exist. Just like there are very hunky, hot, built men that are great guys.
