Mystery Man

You seem to have established yourself as the guy to answer questions regarding abuse, insecurity, and other psychological issues... why do you think this is? You seem to have a lot of information and experience with these topics.

I am the bluntly honest guy. Abuse, depression, insecurity all really need total honesty in the answers. Being patted on the head and told "there, there, it'll all be fine someday" simply doesn't cut it, but lets the questioner relax back into their self destructive behaviour and think "Well, I tried." Being forced to look at yourself and your life honestly does work, though it is painful indeed.

As far as information goes, lets just say I have both some personal experience and proper training in these areas, which it is a pleasure to put to use from time to time. That is all you get - the name is Mystery Man for a reason. If it is something I don't know about, I research it extensively before answering. People who get up the courage to ask questions, even anonymously to a deliberately faceless stranger, rate my best efforts in response.

Which leads us to another thing. Alone of the guys here, I don't have a name or a recognisable face. I am literally faceless on here - a google search with human experience, if you will. It is how I like it and prefer it, but it has a bonus effect. No one worries about being judged, because there is not even that small personal connection that a name and picture provides.

OF course, I don't just answer this sort of question. It would get depressing fast for me, if no one else. Sometimes a guy likes to kick back, relax and be downright nasty. We all like taking on a range of questions, it makes the writing the answers (and blogs) a joy.

Again - published early as I am out all day Sunday. Though I will be back in time for the liveblogging of the Oscars!

Did you make up this question just so you could answer it? I've been reading Guyspeak from almost the beginning. Every guy here has written beautiful, brilliant answers to VERY difficult topics - mental illness, domestic violence, rape, suicide, substance abuse, etc. Except they don't have to brag about it.
