Wondering what to get for your geek this holiday season? Geeks can be difficult to shop for, what with their penchant for obsessive collecting and all. Luckily, there is tons of great stuff out there to surprise your special nerd with. From zombies to Star Wars to Mystery Science Theater, there is something here to please everyone from your slightly geeky boyfriend to your extremely geeky brother (or boss).

Re: "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"

They also came out with "Sense and Sensibility and Sea-Monsters". Ftaghn!

Great list.

Jess

Hahaha, the Jayne Cobb hat is the only reason I now know how to knit hats. I must've knitted at least 5-6, none of which I got to keep. I can actually knit one up, with pom pom and ear-flaps in under 2 hours.

Dektora

I'm still at level 1.0 of knitting (aka super simple scarf), but I have to make progress faster so I can get to that hat's level! It's just as awsome as Jayne is... (but circular needle are a bit scary, hehe)

Jess

It is A LOT easier than you think.
In fact I prefer to use circular needles, you don't have to do alternating rows of knit and purl in order to get a smooth fabric, you just knit the whole time. Using double pointed needles is a pain though, although I've recently gotten into using them for knitting mittens and gloves.

Just try it out, it's really truly super simple.

Coulton's "Mandelbrot Set" is my favorite nerd song. Ever.

Star Wars Tauntaun Sleeping Bag = disgustingly awesome. i know I'D love to sleep inside him :-P

p.s. that's what she said...

Nick Nadel

Yeah, I just keep thinking about what Han Solo said about the smell.

But the lightsaber zipper is really hilarious.

Michael Swaim

Good list. I really want or already have a surprising number of these items. Big ups on the JoCo DVD and the sleeping bag.

Although I have to ask, am I the only 20-something geek who's mildly offended by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? It just seems like such a calculated ploy to appeal to my exact demographic that I want to tell the guy to buzz off.

Nick Nadel

I had the same problem with P&P&Z when I first heard about it. But it's actually funny. Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters on the other hand, that's a pandering quickie cash-in.

well, as a avid austen fan, i think everyone should have to read the original before reading the new version. that said, i do like both.

That's not Crow, that's Tom Servo.

Nick Nadel

Right you are! Fixed. I think at one point there was also going to be a Crow figure, but it looks like you just get Tom now. Still an awesome set.

I've read PPandZ... it's UH-mazing! I've already had my boyfriend read it. He loved it too.

World War Z by Max Brooks is another incredible book gift if you have a zombie loving reader for a boyfriend.
