There were so many sexy geeks out there this year, it was hard to choose just ten. (I could probably make a list solely from my fellow hot, awesome geeks on this site.)
Wired has a list up now, and while I agree with some of the choices (as you'll see below), too many fall into the generic T&A category. (That "Hot For Words" Youtube star with the fake boobs? Really, Wired?)
Here are ten geeks I crushed on this year. Let me know your favorites in the comments.
Felicia Day
Geeks fell in love with Day after her sweet, singing turn opposite Neil Patrick Harris in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. But her viral video hit "Do You Want To Date My Avatar?," made with pals from her web show The Guild, was a mating call for World of Warcraft geeks everywhere. Plus, she's a big RPG nerd. (Sorry though, dudes-- that paladin you're questing with probably isn't Day.)
Elizabeth Mitchell
I've had a thing for Mitchell since her days of making out with Angelina Jolie in Gia. But like everyone else, I gradually fell for her character Juliet on Lost, and her heartbreaking relationship with Sawyer. Now that she's hunting aliens on V, it's safe to say Mitchell will be breaking nerd hearts for some time.
Miracle Laurie
Miracle plays November on Dollhouse, a show that I went from being mildly interested in to loving with a passion bordering on the insane. She's also unbelievably gorgeous, with the sort of natural curves Hollywood could use more of these days. Plus, she plays the ukulele in a band called Uke Box Heroes. That's more than a little nerdy. And awesome.
Zoe Saldana
As if sporting a space mini-skirt as Star Trek's Uhura wasn't enough, Saldana also popped up in that little James Cameron movie about the streaming music website Pandora. Or maybe it was an alien planet of the same name. Either way, Sigourney Weaver is in it. And, as Reformed Player so ably pointed out, Zoe's also pretty hot as a blue alien. (Apparently the DVD might feature hot Na'vi on Na'vi action. Yay?)
Kristen Bell
Besides her recent turn in the Star Wars nerd comedy Fanboys, Bell's voice can be heard in the hit Assassin Creed games. She's also a big Batman fan, and will forever be in my heart for Veronica Mars.
Peggy Wang
She's in the buzz-worthy indie band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and a blogger for Buzzfeed. (And also possesses some pretty darn cute bangs.) Check out the shoegazing gems "This Love is F******g Right" and "A Teenager In Love" off her band's self-titled album.
Blair Butler
Sure, the undersexed fanboys go gaga for Blair's fellow G4TV host Olivia Munn. But real geeks know that the channel's resident comic book expert (and "Fresh Ink" host) is one of the few people on G4 with actual nerd cred. And, uh, she's really into zombies.
Zooey Deschanel
Every hipster geek's crush played the ultimate unattainable hipster crush in (500) Days of Summer, a sweet romantic comedy that made up for years of Hollywood subjecting us to terrible Sandra Bullock movies. And as one-half of the stellar band She & Him, Zooey is that rare actor/singer who can actually sing.
Spock
Come on, Nimoy is still getting it done. Zachary Quinto was great and all, but you can't beat Spock Classic.
Obama Skywalker
*Cough* Nerd! *Cough*

I must say TU CHE on the Leonard Nimoy. I almost crawled out of my skin when he made his cameo on the movie! Maybe in the sequels we'll get to see I don't know, George Tekkei, or yes even William Shatner. How awesome would that be?! (One very noticable over look: JIM PARSONS, JIM PARSONS, JIM PARSONS!!!)
George Takei needs to be in the next movie. George Takei makes everything better.
Yes! George has that effect doesn't he? (Although I must say John Cho is a very agreeable alternative...tee hee!) (BTW..Did I mention you forgot JIM PARSONS! LOL!)
Yes, like Heroes for another example. Loved him as Hiro's dad.
Zooey Deschanel is awesome, yes!
I'm not sure -all- of the people you've listed here are geeks... I guess you could say they are acting geeks, but I'm sure you could say there are modeling geeks, exercise geeks, and whatnot, and then what really is the point of including the word geek? I think "is not mainstream' might be a better word for this list :-D They are definitely cool girls though.
However, Felicia Day is definitely geeky, and I hope she is at the top of Wired's terrible list (it's like a list of any hot chick who ever once had a cameo role on anything sci-fi/fantasy... or any host of a "geek" program (communications majors, hello?)... anyhow, let me end my rant here... time to go watch The Guild!
I LOVE Dollhouse!
Best show ever.
I would put Nathan Fillion at the top of my 2009 geek list. I have no idea if he did anything geeky in 2009, but I don't really care. He is just geeky in a hot way, any year! Also, Matthew Gray Gubbler...
Kudos for putting Felicia Day in your list. She is awsome! And I have to confess I made a lil happy dance when Nimoy appeared on the screen. Which probably made my neighbors nervous since I saw it on a plane...
He did put the Firefly costume on for an episode of Castle...

That was pretty awesome.
Wow! This is awsome indeed! I need to watch that episode.
Nice list, Nick! I am a huge Zooey fan. I believe she hit maximum on the Pop Culture Awesomeness Scale (this one goes to 11) when she married DCFC's Ben Gibbard this year.
Ah, I love Felicia Day!! I'm hoping to see a season 4 of The Guild!!
Zooey is effing awesome - love her naytime I see her in anything & Miracle can you say GORGEOUS - If I actually could look like a celebrity I would pick her
You all forgot the girl from Myth Busters
