For all intents and purposes, this was a very short and quick news story. Congressman sends a picture of his undies to a woman who claims to never have engaged in such actions with said fellow. He got hacked. Okay. It happens. Nobody believed him, but okay. Had he just owned up to it upfront, my guess is that nobody would have cared one way or another. He's a freakin' Congressman, social media is just exposing what we all expected.

At least it wasn't pictures of him posing without his shirt on trying to look buff. THAT was egregious. This was a way more acceptable sexual antic and ploy. Stupid? Absolutely. But he's from NY and his last name is Weiner. He's finally made it to cool guy status so he's enjoyed the fruits of his labors. Pun.

We'd all understand. And we'd move on to some other non-news story. But nope, Weiner made the worst mistake of all when it comes to dealing with the press: he reacted like a smug son of a b*tch.

AND pretended that he was smarter than everybody else.

If there's one thing that journalists don't like, it's somebody trying to pretend that they're smarter than them. Which lead to his retarded claims and vague responses and pretendation (yes, I just made that word up) that he "wasn't sure" about his undies, etc. #cmonson.

So what happens when you try to pretend that you're smarter than everybody else? Well, everybody else goes out of their way to prove that you aren't. And the media is an army of many. For the record, this has nothing to do with the media. He's the idiot. The media is and was just doing their job on reporting on a smug dbag type dude.

Which is the main point of all of this. A man in power abuses his power and maintains inappropriate relationships with women. Whoopty do. We expect that. And real talk, nobody's REALLY stepped up to the plate since the Clinton scandal. The rest of this stuff has been fairly benign and was more about plain ole lying to their family. The rest of us really needn't be involved for more than a day or so. But nooooooooooooooo, this foolio decides he wants to attempt to play EVERYBODY else on some "above the fray" non-sense. When you start one lie down the terrible road and you refuse to own up to it early, that's when you get the hot butt sex treatment.

Dumb lie after implausible and improbable fib later, and his royal Weiny finally came clean. And to be clear, he had no choice. You remember that little Tiger Woods thing where women started falling out of trees? That was coming because if there's one thing a woman involved in scandal doesn't appreciate, it's not being acknowledged. Odd future.

Either way, let this be a (another) cautionary tale for anybody doing something unseemly and in fear of getting busted. Be like Ahnuld, jump out in front of it early and put the spin there on your own. Don't let everybody else take you down. Do I think he should resign? Sure, but really I couldn't care less. He's a liar and proven that he'll lie if he thinks its in his best interest, which by my math makes him a politican. But he's not my rep.

By the way, a rep deez joke would be SO puntastically punderful right about now.
