Here it is, ladies, the quick and handy cheat-sheet to "How Do I Know if a Guy Likes Me." I've distilled everything into Five Guys. No, not the burger joint, but the 5 types of vibes or interactions you may encounter from a guy who actually likes you, but is too shy or dumb to say it out right. What's more, I've added adorable perforation lines along the top and bottom of this post, so that you can simply print and cut out more neatly.
From this day forward, keep this little sheet in your purse or Manolos and you'll be able to decode Your Nervous Nelson or Wide-Eyed Wally in seconds flat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. "THE WHO, ME?" This Guy will stare at you any chance he gets while doing his best to make it look like he's not. He will burn a hole into the back of your head with his eyes, but turn around, and he's staring at the tree to your left or the nonexistent person behind you. He'll pop up in weird places like a Where's Waldo, then hide like a ninja if spotted.
2. "THE NERVOUS NELSON" This Guy will often act extra excitable around you despite his best efforts. This is most often seen as unusual fidgeting with hands, pulling on clothes, rapid blinking or facial movement. Other guys may opt for constant hair play, clutching and rubbing of iPhone and laughing at things that are marginally funny at best.
3. "THE HIPSTER HENRY" This Guy is working over-time to appear cool but shoots himself in the boot by only succeeding in coming across like a prick. His specialty is avoiding eye contact and he may actually slip in a "Tell me your name again"? if he fears his cover is blown. He's prone to ignoring you even if the social group is small, and generally acting like everything, but you is important -- be it his backpack, his shoe laces, his sleeping friend.
4. "THE CLASSIC CARSON" This Guy will take center stage to show you he rocks and is worthy of your attention. He's the guy who volunteers to walk your dog, tutor you, carry your bags. He's also the dude who will hang from a pull-up bar to prove he's really strong or flaunt his fluent Italian at the restaurant or break into a liquor store if it's 4am and you want a drink.
5. "THE WIDE EYED WALLY" Also known as El GERLADO or simply THE REPORTER. This Guy will interview you with a machine-gun approach to asking questions. He's not looking for answers per se, so much as your constant recognition that he cares enough to ask. "So how long have you lived here? Do you have roommates? What's your major? Do you travel much? I understand your Dad is Portuguese, what's that like? Do you watch The Office? Tell me more about your car?" He is on you and wants you to know he cares. When he was a teenager someone told him "Girls like it when you ask questions." And he took it to heart and multiplied by 50.

Why can't every guy be a Wide Eyed Wally??? I mean sometimes the questions can be a little much, but at least you know that they're interested. All the other ones are so hard to decifer and unless you're really outgoing it's hard to take the risk and get up the confidence to break the ice. Any advice, Funny Guy, on how to get a Hipster Henry or Who Me to make a move from just being interested to being an item?
omg.. I AM WIDE EYED WALLY :/
Wide Eye Wally sounds more like a creeper. I think the friend always falls into the Classic Carson, and most guys are the Nervous Nelson (shy, get fidgety, etc).
They all sound aweful though...wish sincerity was more prevalent. Seems like sincere men have all but disappear. Except for a few but those are usually the faithful married guys.
so there's this guy at work who other people point out always gives me a "certain look", sits down besides me at meetings, open doors for me, etc but doesn't really say much besides hi and blushing a little. He does like to hug me..but that's it. Is he just being friendly or could he like me?
Former beau, agreed to be friends, acts like a Hipster Henry.
Is he interested, or just doesn't give a shit?
What about the guy that always teases you/laughs at you in a friendly (non-dickish) way? Surely that must fit in somewhere (I'm hoping)
Yes, I missed THE PLAY-FIGHT PATRICK! Tell me about him, Elizabeth...
These are the guys who are interested?!? Damn…
I think I’ll take a pass & hold out for the confident guy who isn’t afraid to put himself out there.
