Got a question in today. Made me think hard, which I detest, and made me waste a rare bonus blog on it.
"How do you feel about getting so many questions from (forgive me if I generalize) young women with issues with abuse? "
We all get these questions.
Every. Single. Day.
Every last one of us. Some of us answer with humor, some with grace, some with rage. You got me, so you got stuck with rage and nastiness.
Honestly though, the answer is we all feel privleged.
This is never something that is easy to talk about, and much less easy to ask about. For someone to get the stones up to ask a question about abuse is a huge thing. Not something any of us will take lightly, ever. We know that, respect that and try our damnedest to respond in the best and most honest way we can. Answering is usually even more horrible than asking.
We all got our own ways of responding. FG has a fine ability to make people smile despite their problems. RP and GBFF both are hugely supportive and sympathetic. CG, look, just scroll back and check. He takes my breath away with his compassion and wisdom on these problems. WA and yours truly will call you seven sorts of idiot then tell you how to get out and sort it out.
I did something I almost never do. We guys have the ability to see questions to the other guys, not just our own. Scrolled back to the beginning of July last year, before I got bored with hitting next. Counted 47 people saying "Thank you." for serious questions. This is not counting the ones who said thank you in the comments to their question, or a related question to one of theirs that did not get answered. Add in that and the number is well over a hundred for just over half a year.
To me that means one thing, and one thing only. We are possibly the luckiest 6 guys in the history of the internet. Guyspeak is usually a light place, where you gals can b*tch about guys and get a snarky response. That should never change. Will never change. But being trusted enough to be asked serious questions from people who are hurt badly?
That, my friends, is something to take pride in.
Now sod off and send me some light stuff for a change!

This blog post made me so happy. :) To be trusted with topics as important as abuse is a privilege and a deeply humbling experience indeed.
Thank you, MM.
i concur, brilliant piece. made me a little misty, and laugh as well. you definitely enjoy calling us idiots dont you lol if i haven't thanked you in the past for your answers to my own questions on this issue, forgive me, i do thank you from the bottom of my heart. this is one of those issues that requires work, maybe, i don't know yet, for the rest of your life even, even if you are smart enough to get out. this forum i find is a privilege to enjoy and for me more often than not a deeply humbling experience in itself. thank you.
THANK YOU GUYSPEAK MEN!
