Can you briefly explain "moonology" for the newbies?
Moonology is the art and science of watching the Moon as she goes through all the signs this month. Where the Moon is in the chart at any one time is crucial because she sets the mood and triggers the major planets. My site Moonology aims to deliver astrology with a special emphasis on Moon-watching. The Moon is also strongly associated with powerful feminine energies, which is something I hope people get from my site when they drop by!
How will 2012 affect the astrological signs? Does the year hold any significance?
The biggest thing everyone is talking about for 2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar on December 21st, 2012. Some wags are predicting that means the end of the world. Most of us astrologers have looked at the horoscope for that date and the good news is that it really doesn't look like the end of the world to us! The biggest things this year astrologically are:
1) The move of enlightening planet Neptune into psychic sign Pisces in February. This will switch many, many more people onto the spiritual path, via practices like meditation and yoga.
2) The move of the lucky planet Jupiter into Gemini mid-year, which will boost everyone's luck in different ways (stay tuned for details on the astro pages on WeTV.com!) and...
3) the end of the long-running Saturn in Libra cycle in October, which is going to make everyone's love lives slightly less arduous!
Well, that last one is a relief! (Also the whole world not ending thing.) Were many signs affected by the zodiac shifting last year?
There was no shifting last year. All that happened was that an astronomer brought up the old subject of the 13th sign so it was back in the media for a brief while. You can read what I wrote about that here.
Do you believe that certain signs are drawn to each other/repelled by each other? For instance, I'm an Aquarius and I've noticed I tend to be friends with Cancers but I date Aries, Taurus and Gemini almost exclusively. (Also the occasional Virgo and Scorpio because I like to live dangerously...)
The first thing to know is that Air and Fire signs and Water and Earth signs tend to click best overall. Air is Gemini, Libra, Aquarius; Fire is Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Water is Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces; Earth is Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. But when it comes to love, you really do have to look at the whole chart because where your love planet Venus is, or your sex planet Mars is, for example, can make a massive difference to who you are drawn to and for what reason! I offer Love Charts here.
As an Aquarius, what can I expect in 2012?
Well, you will have to read your "Year Ahead Stars" on WeTV.com for that! Click your sign and go to "This Year's Horoscope."
Apparently there will be "eclipses" in my "romance zone." Sounds hot! Can the moon really affect your love life?
Yes it can. The Moon tends to set the mood, so it can affect how you feel, and how a particular evening goes, for example. However you also need to know that if you have Pluto on your Sun or Neptune squaring your Venus, that is going to have a much bigger impact on your love life than where the Moon is on a particular night, because they are long-term transits, whereas the Moon zips around the skies very quickly and her effects are more fleeting.
Can you tell us a little bit about your iPhone app?
I developed the Moonology app just because I love technology -- it delivers your daily Moon Meditation, which is a guide to where the Moon is and what kind of mood she is in on any particular day. At the moment it's very simple and therefore free to download. I will probably develop it in 2012. You can find it in the iTunes Shop by searching "Moonology."
Any love advice for the new year?
By October, when heavy-duty Saturn moves out of partnership-oriented Libra, our love lives are going to be less under duress. Between now and then though, there are a lot of important love lessons being learned. Learn them now and your love life will be more solid in the coming seven years!
