The people behind those "Have an affair tonight!" ads have just come out with the results of a (decidedly unscientific) survey they gave their married-and-looking members, and those results give us a clearer idea of what kind of mates are more likely to stray. The responses of more than 11,000 men and nearly 3,000 women reveal the following:
The typical cheating husband:
- Is in his 40s
- Has been married for more than ten years
- Has two children over the age of ten
- Most likely works in IT/Engineering, financial services or education, or is a doctor or attorney
The typical cheating wife:
- Is in her early 30s
- Has been married five years or less
- Has one child
- That child is typically a daughter under three years old
- Is most likely a teacher, stay-at-home mom or medical professional
The survey's other spotty and random findings include these nuggets of interest:
- While women cheat less often--19% compared to 23% for men--women who cheat do so sooner in the marriage and have more adulterous encounters than men (2.3 vs 1.8).
- Women are more likely to fall in love outside of the marriage during an affair.
- More women join AshleyMadison.com on the day after Mother's Day than on any other day of the year.
- The male cheater is most likely to drive (in order) a Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Honda or BMW.
- The female cheater is most likely to drive (in order) a Honda, Ford, Toyota, Chevy, or Mercedes.
- When asked which professional athlete they would like to have an affair with, David Beckham was far and way the top choice, with 43.1% of the overall vote.
- Following Beckham were (in order) Tim Tebow, Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Eli Manning and Kim Kardashian's ex-husband and NBA player, Kris Humphries.
- Tiger Woods placed 15th on the list of famous athletes with whom female survey respondents would have an affair.
- Where do cheaters live? More survey respondents hail from Washington, D.C. than any other U.S. city, followed by (in order) San Antonio, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Orlando.
