In honor of Memorial Day, I asked the guys to memorialize the best love notes they ever sent or received. Romance, we salute you!

After our first date, I made my future-wife a hand-drawn card with roses all around the border and a poem declaring my undying love. It definitely scared her off for a while. I was sad at the time, but in retrospect, it WAS incredibly creepy. I just had so much love inside of me! As evidenced by this mopey poem I wrote when she said she "just wanted to be friends again for a while."
"Love is falling
Love is stark
Love is but a caterwauling
Shout into the dark."
Of course, that's just an excerpt from the five-page goth opus that was my Meade notebook. Oh, the inanity.

Me to her: You're the best thing I ever lost. Did it work? Nope!

The best love message I ever received was from an ex of many many moons. One day, randomly, she slipped me a piece of paper as I was heading to the airport to go home that said, "you are my favorite song." As much as we both loved music, that meant a whole lot to me. Coincidentally, somebody must have realized how straight-from-a-movie that was and my flight got delayed by random birds flying thru the air traffic control tower so we got to spend another day together making beautiful music. Of course at some point, I must have turned into 2 Live Crew because she then started to hate me. By then I guess I was Creed. I mean who likes them?

The best note I remember is when someone wrote "I love Cary McNeal!" on the mirror in one of the girls' restrooms at my high school. All my female friends told me about it. No idea who wrote it, but it made my semester.

I hired a virtual assistant in India to write a love note for me once. (It was for a funny aritcle!) My assistant Suresh wrote: "Every woman born out of the elbow of her man, I think I am from yours." The guy who received that note suddenly had to go out of town "indefinitely."
I like ALL of these! I wanted to hug Michael, laugh with JDV, put on a song for PJ, hi-five Cary, and have a girls' night out with Carrie.
Can't say I've ever had a love note written for me (or about me), but hey, my life's not over yet. It could happen.
Thanks, Carrie!
Aww, very sweet and funny. Mine has to be when my ex leaned over in class and wrote in big letters "I still think you're the shit!". I loved it until i realized he had written all over the essay i was writing.
Btw, I love Creed!
