What's the best way to get over a breakup? GuySpeak Group Question!

Just get dumped by the love of your life? A new website called PinkKisses encourages women to send themselves gifts of chocolates and flowers as a post-breakup pick-me-up. This strategy struck me as a bit odd, so I asked the guys for their reaction to the site and for their advice on getting over big, bad breakups.

There's nothing wrong with giving yourself a present to get over a breakup. Just don't be one of those people who sends flowers to themselves at work and then brags about it to anyone within earshot. Your coworkers will hate you with a fiery passion.

Also, on a related note: Jumpin' Jeebus are some of the Pink Kisses packages pricey. $272 for some flowers, truffles, and "virtual gifts," whatever that is? How much do you need to spend on yourself? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go drop a Benjamin on Rock Band 3. Gotta have that keytar!

Pink Kisses? Sounds like a porno. Pink Kisses 2: Tonguin' Groove. Interesting idea for a site though, sending yourself girly crap when you're sad. Nothing wrong with a little emotional masturbation.

Best way to get over a breakup? Time. It's kinda like a hangover: you have to feel like crap for a while and you'll swear you'll never do it again, but the pain will subside and you'll be right back at it.

While I find the reasons behind the creation of the site slightly...retarded...I can't knock women trying to find some way to make themselves feel better after a breakup. So what you're spending your own money to send your own self something like a text message or some chocolates. We all heal differently. To me, cheaper is better but whatever...actually, I can't even fake it. This seems downright dumb. Why not just go the retail therapy route if you're going to throw money away? Why get stuff that will REMIND you that you don't have a guy? Not to mention that you had to pay some set of chicks you don't know who probably have men now to attempt to make you happy? Send the money to Haiti or something and go to the movies.

The best way to get over a breakup is to take it one day at a time and drink as much as possible when you're not driving or at work. I also suggest sky diving.

I support this site 110% for one main reason: if it becomes succesful, then it will slowly become socially acceptable for men to not buy chocolates and flowers and whatever. Women can buy it for themselves!

As for how to get over a break-up? Two words: Pina coladas.

I'm with Panama on this. If you're feeling down in the dumps and want to blow some cash, take your friends to drinks or the movies. Or better yet, a drunken movie. After you drink it out, spend your pennies on things that will make you a more fabulous person, whatever that means to you. Maybe it's a French class, maybe it's a donation to your favorite charity, maybe it's a deposit in your 401(k) or maybe it's a pink sombrero. The key to getting over a broken heart is not self-indulgence, it's self-distraction.

It makes me a little sad to see no one commented on this. I have to say, break-ups are hard. Whether you are the breaker or the breakee, it usually isn't easy. Drinks, self-indulgence, both good things. Time really is the last big thing. It just takes time, unfortunately.

Go through the motions girls.

Get up. (This is most of the battle). Get dressed (try to put on something nice). Go to work . . . the gym . . . (put on a smile - even a fake one), try to flirt. No need to walk around with the "I got dumped vibe." We've all been there. We just don't want to wallow there. Neither should you.

If you must cry - do it in private. Publically, shake it off and MOVE ON! He/She isn't worth the agony - remember the douche dumped you - don't give him/her the satisfaction of torturing you for eternity too. It's over now. Let it be over now.
