Boys Gone Wild?!??!

I've had a long standing debate with some female friends of mine about how ridiculous the Girls Gone Wild series of videos are. And it's not about what's happening in the videos, it's about the fact that there is no male exploitation to balance it out. While I realize that the Women's Liberation Movement was about equal rights for women, I wonder if they had exploitation on their mind.

But let's talk double-standards, mmkay?

Men and women alike can generally appreciate the female form. It is a thing of beauty even if you aren't sexually attracted to it. This is fact. Also (and here comes the double standard) there isn't anything inherently gay about two women doing jello shots off one another or rubbing up against one another. Women disrobe in front of each other often, if you let the liquor tell it.

On the other hand, how many women actually want to see two drunken homeboys swordfighting on camera for sh*ts and giggles? There is no way that any type of crossed lances is anything other than gay. And that is not just the liquor talking, most men and women would probably agree that there are certain lines that just aren't meant to be crossed. No pun intended.

I can't imagine a bunch of women (because no men would be involved in the gayness of such an activity) sitting around tossing back Melonball shots and getting a kick out of watching a bunch of dudes drop trou...hundres of times. Then if you add the same debauchery that happens on Girls Gone Wild - women doing obnoxiously drunk and family-shaming activity - with a bunch of guys running around holding their juniors for show, I mean, doesn't that just seem...ridiculous?

Once again, double standards. They exist and we cannot pretend that don't. Sure they shouldn't, but they do. So cork that.

But once again, the larger question, for as many women who claim that Girls Gone Wild is so exploitative (it is) and feel like there should be some sort of male exploitation to balance it (once again, a retarded argument - more exploitation doesn't make the first one any better), is there an actual market for it? Porn exists because of the women. Sure there are men boinking them but nobody cares about the dude aside from noticing how "endowed" he may be. Everybody (at least the men and women I know) care about the women involved.

So help me out here, does anybody actually want to see Boys Gone Wild?

Interesting perspecitve - thanks! I don't really want to see "boys gone wild" in the same sense that we see "girls gone wild," but something to balance out women being taped as sex objects basically for men's enjoyment. In fact, I would LOVE to see some media attention or any attention given to women cheating on thier husbands. Not because I agree with it at all, but I'm SO sick of hearing about celebrity husbands cheating and disrespecting thier wives. Men are going to start to think it's normal and OK. NOT OK!!

There are Boys Gone Wild videos and they are marketed to the gay male market... they are just as bad as the GGW videos... it makes me squidgy to think that there are young adults out there who, while heavily intoxicated are cajoled into taking off their clothes and commiting acts and saying things that they will most likely regret in the morning... along with their massive hang over. Either way I'm not a fan. At least porn stars are making a conscious, and sober (assumingly) decision to perform on camera. I don't consider the Wild videos to be in the same ranking as porn. If you have to be flat-on-your-ass drunk to do it... maybe you shouldn't.

"If you have to be flat-on-your-ass drunk to do it...maybe you shouldn't."
Words to live by. And yeah, few things would interest me less than Boys Gone Wild (ew) but I think the appeal of Girls Gone Wild is seeing "good girls" being naughty, so maybe the female equivalent is more in the direction of the attraction to "bad boys". That doesn't really lend itself to exploitation though.

women don't want sexuality in its rawest form. girls gone wild is rogue camera action with everyday girls from the streets. men on the street are out of shape, unattractive and drinking sloppily to make themselves look worse not better. what woman wants to see Joe Shmo shaking his junk in poor lighting and unmanscaped? Women keep themselves together in the shaving department for the most part and if your shirt is covering an unfortunate face as you flash your boobs that can be sexy but men can't do anything about their exposed faces while showing their junk and most men don't have six packs so lifting up shirts to show bloated bellies is a fail. girls gone wild is supposed to expose that girl at the club that you wish u could take home, there aren't enough hot men for women to have the same curiosity or desire to see them naked.

This is exploitation, pure and simple. A lot of these girls are in their late teens or early twenties and most are at least half-drunk. At least in porn, both parties are aware of what's going to happen, there's a contract, compensation, etc. And nobody's drunk (at least I hope not!)
As for the guys who think this is awesome, I usually ask,
"How would you feel if this was your daughter in these videos?"

Kina

drunk dudes flashing their junk? NO (eww). But if we're taking hot shirtless guys? definitely.

I'm with Kina on this one. Hot shirtless guys is way better than drunk dudes flashin their junk.
