Birth Control Pills Kill Sex Drive? Do Guys Hate Condoms?

So a new study from Germany says taking birth control pills can kill your sex drive. File under Life Is Totally Unfair. But there's a silver lining to the study -- women who use condoms report the highest sex drives, beating out women who use no birth control at all.

So guys, tell us: What do you really think about using condoms? Do you hate them or are they no big deal? Would you be willing to try a male birth control pill?

Condoms are a necessary evil, like government and Bill O'Reilly. While I'd rather feel the sensation of skin-on-skin action, the potential Monday morning quarterbacking that it relieves makes them all worth it. Plus, without condoms, imagine how many MORE potential terrorists would exist. Yes, saying no to condoms is saying yes to terrorism.

I'd be willing but very leery about taking male birth control. How do you manage to do a short-term murder of millions of swimmers and then allow for them to be reinvigorated later? Sounds suspect. I'll just let women keep taking them.

I'd take a pill if it meant no condoms, but they're not really THAT big a deal. After becoming more thoroughly informed, I'm a convert of the newer breeds of IUD, mainly because they're a technological descendant of the practice of putting peach pits in a camel's she-thang to prevent more, smaller camels.

Look, condoms offer the most protection against the transmission of STDs. Nothing is 100%. But if you're banging it out with multiple partners, you need to pack rubbers. It's not just a matter of self-protection, it's also a matter of self-respect. Both men AND women should have them handy. That said, having sex with a condom is like eating a meal with a mouth full of trash bags.

I can barely remember to shave everyday. Do you really want me in charge of an anti-baby pill? I mean, it's still not our body that has to carry the love critter. Or be torn in two getting it out.

We have a time-share condom at the beach and love it. If anyone needs a cheap place to stay in Ft. Lauderdale, let me know. I'd take a male birth control pill, except I had my tubes tied years ago.

I'd rather have a little libido than a little baby.

" While I'd rather feel the sensation of skin-on-skin action, the potential Monday morning quarterbacking that it relieves makes them all worth it." this is not a term i'm familiar with... haha please explain?

oh panama - the pill makes us not ovulate for a while so making men fire blanks should be like the same thing, and who knows maybe it will help prevent male cancers too!

I decided a couple of years ago that the decreased sex drive is the real reason that birth controls works. I was on depo, and I hated being touched. I didnt realize that it was the hormones until I went off the shot and was hornier than I had ever been in my life! Thank goodness that everything leveled back out after a couple of months.

I don't know...decreased libido really sucks. It's okay if you're single or just need help with your cycles, but when you're with someone, they never understand WHY you don't want to get it on. They start getting paranoid and assuming you're sleeping with someone else and that is a fine jar of worms that gets opened.
Truth be told, I've NEVER had a guy accept that I wasn't in the mood because of the birth control. They go by what they know, which is ultra-horny concentrated sex juice and that everyone either is doing it, wants to do it, or is doing it with someone else. No other option seems to occur to most guys. (There are exceptions, though.)
I would never trust a guy to be on the man-version of the pill, especially if it decreases their libidos. No man I know would suffer that shame. Then we have men like JDV, while absolutely adorable, nevertheless are a bit absent-minded about things like that. Presto! Girl is preggers.
How to solve? Dunno. IUDs are a good option, but usually the doc won't let you have one unless you've had at least one kid or if you're okay with not having kids, ever.
So I guess condoms are the best method, then. At least until they eradicate STDs.
Oh well. I tried.

Decreased libido sucks, I went off the pill so I could try for myself and see if it came back, it did. Now I'm waiting to see if I can lose all the weight that I gained as well, so far I lost 10 pounds!

I would never trust a guy to take the pill, they can barely remember to buy condoms. I keep asking my doc to tie my tubes, but she wants my man to tie his, and he's not going for it. No glove, no love...1 Costco sized box of condoms please!

I guess women do have the gift of detail memorization...which is essential with birth control. Any miscalculations on timing can alter the effectiveness. I was lucky not to lose my libido, but those hormones beat my emotional wellness into a coma in those first months.

Okay guys,this is really funny.

It's called an IUD, people. My wife and I have been using them for years, and it's been good for both parties.

That said, it obviously is NOT a good option for casual sex. Condoms are the only reliable solution there.
