A story just came out in the New York Post about female guards hooking up with male inmates at Rikers Island prison. Sad, freaky or inspiring (love always finds a way!)?? Guys -- where is the most unusual place you've met someone that you dated or hooked up with?
Reformed Player says:
I know a gay man who, if he just wants casual sex, hits up an evangelical convention. He's got his pick of men, and they never call him back.
Mystery Man says:
I know a guy who met his (now) wife when she crashed into him on the highway. They exchanged details at the roadside, like a true gent he let her take the first tow truck and he phoned that evening to make sure she had got home OK. She insisted on taking him out for a meal to apologise. 8 months later they were married.

I read the article and it's not surprising that so many women prison guards were engaging in congress with inmates. It's like match.com up for there, perhaps InMatch.com. One guard was busted for engaging in familiarity with Lil Wayne while he was there. Personally, the most odd meeting I've had with a chick I ended up somewhat dating was during a fight that occurred at a nightclub I was working at. I helped security escort a rather belligerent gentleman out of the club and noticed an attractive woman standing in line to get in while this ruckus is going on. I told her to wait there as I'd be right back. Nothing particularly crazy, but let's just say I'm glad that dude got kicked out of the club.

I've met a couple women on long bus rides. Which is ironic, because buses are like the worst mode of transportation ever. If ever there was a terrible place to meet your soulmate, it's on a stinky Greyhound bus to Philly. You know that Simon & Garfunkel song "America"? The one that makes a cross-country bus trip sound like the most romantic, melancholy thing ever? A total crock of lies. But maybe it's the horrible forced setting that leads to camaraderie. Talking to the stranger sitting next to you is far preferable than a long, boring bus ride. Plus, most guys on buses are usually creeps. So the fact that I'm only slightly creepy probably worked in my favor.

Wow, Nick and I have this weird bus thing in common. One of my favorite mysterious meetings went down on a bus in New York. We hit a big bump, my flip-flop slipped off and it literally smacked this dude in the face. You can read the whole tale here. (UPDATE: We didn't have a happily ever after, but we did date for quite awhile and are now happily friends ever after.)

I once met a girl online who worked 45 feet from me. Online Dating became months of Office Dating, became Working alongside my Ex, became back to Online Dating.
Stuck in an elevator. No, seriously. We didn't hook up there but I got her number and we dated briefly. Insert "going down?" joke here.
Ladies, where's the weirdest spot you've met someone?
We were riding on the same Chicago bus and when I exited, he panicked and got off at the next one and ran back to look for me. A complete stranger. He literally chased me down the street to introduce himself.
It was more romantic comedy than creepy.
Met my future wife in a cemetary. I worked there at the time-had recently buried her mother. .She was at the gravesite one day-looking so lost and forlorn, I just had to offer her my arms...we've been married 25 years now....
Some guy seemed fazed when I once boarded the train after my boyfriend dropped me off the station. I saw him by the tracks, looking up on the windows. Few minutes later, this guy showed up right in front of me and told me he'll never forgive himself if he didn't say hello and introduce himself.
I turned him down since I'm already taken, of course. But I have to say... His effort and confidence might have won him a number from a lady. Not from me though since I'm really and still not comfortable meeting complete strangers in places I don't consider my territory.
