Is Your Bedroom Turning Guys Off? GuySpeak Group Question!

Khloe Kardashian recently showed off the INSANE, color-coordinated shoe closet in her bedroom to ELLE. Guys -- when you walk into a girl's bedroom, what are the things that turn you on and turn you off?

Like most things in life, I don't really mind as long as nothing egregious jumps out at me. There are no turn ons generally, but I can totally be turned off by a chick's room that's a little bit immature for her age. Like NKOTB posters and pony stuffed animals and really pink decor definitely sends up a flare. I also don't care about something being hotel tidy. I just want it to be clean. A clean room indicates a clean woman. And dirty women make me more limp than two former mobsters without legs. I will say that anything that seems too overdone - like a color-coordinated closet - might be more telling about her psyche and what lies beneath. I don't really do well with OCD chicks.

Turn offs:
1.     Incense
2.     Harry Potter books
3.     Cats, cat hair, cat toys
4.     Sarah McLachlan CD on dresser

Turn ons:
1.     ONE cool stuffed animal
2.     Diary
3.     Sunlight
4.     Cozy bed that smells like that Snuggles bear

Well, I can't really judge a woman for having lots of stuffed animals or other childhood things in her bedroom seeing as how my possessions are like 70% action figure and comic book-related. But there are a few things that set off my Spidey sense and get me to hightail it out of there:

-- Photos of her ex with his face scratched out
-- Blueprints for homemade bombs
-- A pentagram written in blood on the floor surrounded by candles
-- Her husband in the bed

A friend of mine once told me my closet was so full of clothes that I'd never attract a guy. She insisted the feng shui was off; men would think I had room for them in my life. I scoffed. I laughed. What woman in her right mind would give up closet space for some imaginary dude from the future? Months later, I forgot all about the conversation. I packed up half my clothes for an extended work trip in another city. When a guy I'd been dating came over to my room for the first time, he opened my closet to hang up his jacket and said, "Wow, there's so much room in here." We ended up dating for more than a year. Never hurts to leave a little space in your life - and in your closet - for love.

A person's bedroom can tell you a lot about their personality, so anything that turns you off about the bedroom generally turns you off about the person. That said, there's a lower minimum level of cleanliness in a bedroom than any other room: it's where you keep your laundry and where you usually only spend about an hour or two conscious each day.

Even so, there's one thing that's a guaranteed turn-off: if it looks like a little girl's room. If there's an overabundance of stuffed animals, if everything is pink, if it basically looks like somebody underage lives there...that's just creepy and uncomfortable. There was one woman that I walked in and immediately turned to her to say "You're not still in high school, right?" She told me I'd killed the mood, but the walls lined with Barbie dolls had done that before I even opened my mouth.

You kidding! I'd sooner criticise a woman's hip size than her bedroom, no matter how tasteless it is.

My room does not scream little girl, I have a lot of wall space so I have a few painting hung up, and a tapestry, but my great aunt collected antique dolls and gave me a few as a child, and I started collecting them as well. I have 1 shelf in my bedroom with a few porcelain dolls on it, they're under glass and I think they're quite beautiful, but they have creeped out men (and friends) on several occasions. I don't really understand what people dislike about dolls, but I respect that people often have strong feelings about them. I'd never give them up though, it's a small collection that brings me a bt of joy, and fond memories of my great aunt.

I also hav a really interesting picture of a clown that men tend to dislike. It was a gift, and i love it, it was beautifully painted, and skillfully designed, and I love seeing its bright colors when I wake up.

Its my room -- while I don't think you should ever change what makes you happy to just please a guy, maybe you could move the dolls to a different room if they're creeping guys out? You wouldn't be "giving them up," you'd just be moving them to a less intimate space. For some reason (horror movies, likely) dolls at night can give off an eerie vibe. Then again, maybe you'll meet a guy who thinks they're rad or, like Chic Geek, has a lot of figurines that he'll want to bring over to hang out with the dolls. Keep us posted!

Going off on a tangent here, but does the color pink scare off guys when it's not in the room? I suppose guys can't inherently be turned off by girls who wear pink clothes...but what about a head full of pastel hair?

I say as long as Chris Hansen and a camera crew aren't in her room waiting for you, you're good.

Sorry, Carrie, forgot to send you my answer.

Mystery Man

Just a camera crew is still OK though, right?

I'm having a guy in my room for the first time this coming weekend, and this has given me a lot to think about. Nobody really comes over to my house and this isn't a permanent residence, so I never did anything with it. Time to hang those photos!

Clean sheets and dim lights!
