  • Nick Nadel commented on Mel Gibson: What Women Do Not Want
Woody's recent films that he's not in are pretty great. (Match Game and Vicky Christina Barcelona.) As a general rule of thumb, if he's in the movie these days (or someone's playing him, as Larry David did in Whatever Works) you should probably steer clear....
  • Nick Nadel commented on Mel Gibson: What Women Do Not Want
Well, he's made movies since then. Hollywood is pretty forgiving for DUIs. (Ahem, Paris Hilton.) His recent behavior though may be the final straw....

Mel Gibson has always topped my douchebag list, but up till "What Women Want," I've liked his work, esp on Braveheart and The Patriot. Before now, the only thing I had against him is that all women of my mother's generation thought he was hot. Like, EEEEWWWWW!!!! Now, however, I think seeing him tied naked to an anthill smeared with honey is way too good for him. He should also think about getting neutered. I hear it calms aggressive dogs....

I haven't even heard any of the tapes/mash-ups/mixes of these rants and don't want to. Just the fact that it happened is enough to put me off the man. To be fair, he hasn't had much of a career in front of the camera in a long time at this point anyway. What Women Want was predictable box-ticking chick-flick fare. I had intended to see the new Mad Max because Tom Hardy is in it and he is a legend. If Gibson has anymore than a cameo in it, I won't be parting with my hard-earned cash....
  • Gee commented on Mel Gibson: What Women Do Not Want
I hope he doesn't bounce back. Although Nick has a point about separating art from the artist, I can't help but feel that if something is terribly wrong with the artist, then something's going to be wrong with the art. Don't expect me to ever willingly give a single cent to anything girlfriend-beaters, racists, child abusers, and rapists help create....
